Undergraduate Student Ankur Sarkar was awarded a 2013 NIST SURF fellowship at Boulder, Colorado. Participation in the Boulder NIST SURF program is very selective, as many students apply through their university, but only few are offered a position.

Ankur's area of activity will involve designing nanostructured materials for water treatment and alternative energy applications, including water contaminant degradation, filtration, fuel oxidation, and water electrolysis. Specifically, he will work on nanoparticle and membrane synthesis, using a range of instruments for material characterization.
