Graduate student David Acevedo, advised by professor Zoltan Nagy, received a 2013 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Program Fellowship.

David joined the School of Chemical Engineering in August 2012. He holds a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico. His research interest is in the area of optimization and control of crystallization systems, and process analytical technologies. His research project consists of the sensor integration for a continuous crystallization system. Currently, he is working on multi-objective optimization of batch crystallization process for controlled size and shape of crystals through a multi-dimensional population balance. Also, he is developing sets Pareto-optimal solutions for different objective functions that can be considered for batch processes.
