Professor Reklaitis Recognized with Two Awards

Professor Reklaitis will receive the 2012 AIChE Van Antwerpen Award and the Long Term Achievements Award of the Working Party on Computer Aided Process Engineering of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering.

Rex Reklaitis, Burton and Kathryn Gedge Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering, has been selected to receive two prestigious awards this year. The first is the 2012 AIChE Van Antwerpen Award, which recognizes a chemical engineer for outstanding contributions and service to the Institute. The Van Antwerpen Award is one of two AIChE Board of Directors Awards.  Dr. Reklaitis will receive the award at the AIChE Annual Meeting to be held in Pittsburgh during October 28 - November 2, 2012.  His citation reads: "For exemplary service to AIChE and the chemical engineering profession at large through his editorships of various journals and invaluable service on several professional committees."

He has also received the Long Term Achievements Award of the Working Party on Computer Aided Process Engineering (CAPE) of the  European Federation of Chemical Engineering.  This award is given once every four years "in recognition of outstanding achievements over an extended period of time to CAPE methods, tools and/or applications for the advancement of science, engineering and technology."
