“Some Innovations in the Biological Treatment of Polluted Air”

Abstract

Biological treatment of polluted air has emerged as a viable alternative for airstreams containing low concentrations of organic and inorganic gaseous compounds. In this talk, the basis and the main bottlenecks of the technology will be presented as an introduction to innovations that have been explored to improve performance and widen the applications. These innovations include, among others, the use of fungi, of extremophiles and of multiple phase reactors.
