CCAT students pose on campus after the first NGTS-3 conference (May 31, 2019). The next conference is set for May 2021.

The theme of the conference is “Shaping the Future and Sharing the Vision” and is the third of an annual conference series sponsored by CCAT, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation Center through its University Transportation Centers (UTC) program.

The goal of the event is to promote networking opportunities, awareness of current research, exchange of novel ideas and professional experiences, and discussion of case studies and research applications. Students everywhere are invited to attend and present their work at the conference.

Speakers will present ongoing or completed research in the following research areas: autonomous vehicles, connected vehicles, electric vehicles, shared transport and airborne personal transport. In each research area, presentations will cover some of the following research activities: estimating/predicting demand, enabling technologies, impact assessment and policy, human factors, controls, operations simulation, infrastructure readiness, and implementation.

Additional support for the conference is provided by the Purdue Engineering Initiative (PEI) in Autonomous and Connected Systems (ACS) and the College of Engineering Dean’s Office.

CCAT was created at the University of Michigan along with several university partners, including Purdue, Washtenaw Community College, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Akron and Central State University.
