Susan M. Khalifah, P.E., S.E. was recognized as a 2019 finalist for the Staff Award for Professional Achievement at the 18th annual College of Engineering Staff Awards of Excellence banquet held at the Shively Club at Ross Ade Stadium on December 6th.

Sue works as the Student Experience Director in the Lyles School of Civil Engineering, ensuring every opportunity to engage current and prospective students is covered.

Her interest in improving the lives of the students is always present - whether in regards to overhauling the school's presentation to First Year Engineering students, providing a facelift to the "Engineer Your Major Night", developing effective marketing materials for prospective students or leading the school's first year learning community sponsorship.

Sue has enhanced the prospective and visitor experience with suggestions for multiple building improvement projects, including a wall mural, and improved hallway signage. One of her biggest achievements was establishing the highly detailed strategic plan for school recruitment. 

She serves as a critical "bridge" between industry, students and staff, due to her structural engineering background.

For her forward thinking approach to creating a road map that uniquely captures how the Lyles School of Civil Engineering recruits and retains students as well as educates industry about the program ranging from high-level goals, curriculum improvement and outreach efforts, Susan M. Khalifah is being recognized for the Professional Achievement Award.
