The steel bridge competition on April 28th was one of many contests held during the ASCE Great Lakes Regional Conference. This year Purdue hosted this annual conference that rotates to the different schools in the region. The steel bridge event involved ten schools competing with their bridges that they had designed and fabricated over the course of the year. They were judged in aesthetics, construction, and loading by several judges that were practicing engineers. Purdue was represented well in the competition and walked away with four third places in the categories of construction speed, display, stiffness, and economy.
