Purdue civil engineering alumnus Tien Fang Fwa (PhD '85), Professor Emeritus of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore, has been elected to the Singapore Academy of Engineering.

Purdue civil engineering alumnus Tien Fang Fwa (PhD '85) has been elected to the Singapore Academy of Engineering.

Dr Fwa is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore, and Director of the Center for Transportation Research. He is active academically and professionally in the area of transportation infrastructure performance assessment and management, particularly in the areas of pavement design and management, pavement materials testing and evaluation, and road and airfield pavement management systems. He has published more than 200 technical papers in leading international journals and conferences, and has been invited to lecture and make technical presentations in 17 countries, including keynote lectures at a number of international conferences and symposia.

He is also a Distinguished Research Professor at Chang'an University in Xi'an, China.
