Rick Olson (BSCE 1983), PE, Regional Manager at Terracon Consultants, Inc., has been recognized as the Consulting Engineer of the Year by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Indiana for his significant contribution to the field of consulting engineering in Indiana.

Rick began his career at Engineering & Testing Services and later became Principal and President of Earth Exploration, overseeing a team of 60+ employees specializing in geotechnical, materials, construction, exploration, and laboratory services. Under his leadership, Earth Exploration merged with Terracon, where he served as Regional Manager.

Rick earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and is a licensed Professional Engineer. He served on the ACEC Indiana Board from 2014 to 2021, including a term as President from 2019 to 2020. Rick is actively involved in the Government Affairs Committee, advocating for PACs and promoting Qualification Based Selection within the industry.

Throughout his career, Rick has dedicated countless hours to ACEC and other organizations, reflecting his commitment to our industry. His influence extends to policy changes in underground utility locating and reforming INDOT's fee structure for geotechnical engineering, aligning with federal guidelines since 2020.
