CE 67600 – Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Members
Credits and contact hours:
- 3 credits
- Lecture meets 3 times per week for 50 minutes per meeting for 15 weeks
Specific course information:
- Prerequisite: CE 47300 Reinforced Concrete Design
Overview:
The course focuses on the behavior of reinforced concrete members and structures, in particular towards how to calculate the nonlinear load-displacement response, perform nonlinear static (pushover) analysis and on strengthening methods for RC structures (conventional and advanced methods).
Topics:
- Material behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) - confinement, stress-strain behavior of confined concrete
- Inelastic behavior of RC members - moment-curvature, moment rotation characteristics
- Performance of RC under seismic loads - pushover analysis
- Behavior and analysis of beam-column joints - nonlinear spring models
- Strengthening of RC members - FRP, haunch retrofit solution
- Behavior of RC members under fire (if time permits)
