Samuel Labi, Professor of Civil Engineering, has been appointed chair of the International Road Federation (IRF) Committee on Alternative Financing. This committee is tasked with recommending best practices for road agencies and governments around the world regarding innovative financing and procurement approaches for delivering their infrastructure projects (construction, operations and maintenance).

This is considered critical in the current era when governments worldwide grapple with challenges related to increased expenditures (due to growing road inventories, infrastructure aging, and resilience needs) and declining revenues (from traditional funding sources such as fuel taxes), and the progressive widening of this gap.
