Professor Samuel Labi, along with Lyles graduate students Richard Ajagu and Andres Moreno, and undergraduate students Yuvraj Segal and Kendrew Agbemadzo, in collaboration with Purdue Polytechnic (Brittany Newell, main PI) and students (including Alex Valdes, Andrew Shelley, and Steve Van Hulle) will participate in the 3rd Annual Artificial Intelligence Maritime Maneuver Indiana Collegiate Challenge (AIMM ICC) at the Pokagon State Park in Angola, Indiana, April 17-18, 2026. The Purdue Team is supported by Tim Murphy and Ricardo Munoz of the US Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC). The Purdue team was the 2nd place Overall Grand Champion in the 2025 event.

Each participating university has a low profile vessel (LPV) that they made fully autonomous for various functions including marine transportation, stealth missions, supply delivery, and search and rescue.

The annual series is hosted and sponsored by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division (NSWC Crane) with the support of the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and planned by a team that includes Jason Blume (Trine University) and Amy Ruggles (U.S. Navy). This event was created after Congressman Jim Banks (IN-3) led a congressional funding effort towards a NSWC Crane and Trine University partnership.
