Young Educator Achievement Award Goes to Robert Frosch

Robert J. Frosch is the recipient of PCI's 2007 Young Educator Achievement Award.

Robert J. Frosch will be conferred with the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute's 2007 Young Educator Achievement Award in October at the PCI Annual Convention & Exhibition in Phoenix, Ariz.  This award recognizes young engineering, architecture and construction technology educators who have made significant contributions during their early careers to the precast/prestressed concrete industry.

Frosch is an associate professor of civil engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., where he has been on the faculty since 1997.  He received his BSE from Tulane University in 1991 and his MSE and Ph.D. from the University of Texas - Austin in 1992 and 1996, respectively.

After receiving his Ph.D., he worked with Modjeski and Masters Consulting Engineers on several projects, including the seismic retrofit of the San Mateo Bridge crossing the San Francisco Bay in California.

Frosch's research interests include the design and behavior of structural concrete, earthquake engineering, bridge engineering, and the repair and rehabilitation of structures.

His teaching and research have been recognized by his students and colleagues at Purdue through the Harold Munson Teaching Award, the Edmund M. Burke Outstanding Professor Award, and the Roy E. and Myrna Wansik Civil Engineering Research Award.  He is the recipient of the American Concrete Institute's Young Members Award for Professional Achievement and the University of Texas - Austin Outstanding Young Alumnus Award.

Frosch is a registered professional engineer in Indiana and Louisiana.  He also serves on PCI's Committee on Bridges on an LRFD subcommittee.
