Prof. Mete Sozen became an honorary member of the Architectural Institute of Japan at the induction ceremony on May 31st, and presented his 10-minute acceptance speech in Japanese. The organization, which includes architects and structural engineers, has been active since 1886. Since its inception, only 11 members from outside Japan have been inducted. Prof. Sozen was recognized for his contributions to earthquake engineering.
