Hazem Usama Abdelhady recognized with 2023 Freeman Fellowship
Ph.D. candidate Hazem Usama Abdelhady has been selected as a 2023 Freeman Fellowship recipient by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). This competitive fellowship recognizes Abdelhady's outstanding contributions and accomplishments in his PhD research.
Before coming to Purdue, Hazem received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Cairo University, where he conducted pioneering research on environmentally-friendly damless hydropower. He has developed cutting-edge models to monitor and model shoreline changes in the Great Lakes from high-resolution multispectral satellite images. Hazem is committed to using his research to make a positive impact on the environment and society.
The Freeman Fund was established in 1924 by John R. Freeman, Past President and Honorary Member, ASCE. The income from the fund is to be used in the aid and encouragement of young engineers, especially in research work for objectives as indicated in the rules.
