Professor Antonio Bobet has been appointed visiting Chair Professor at the Innovation Center for Disaster Prevention in Civil Engineering at Tongji University in China, for the period 2014-2018.

Tongji University is located in Shanghai and is well known for outstanding education and research in Civil Engineering. The Innovation Center for Disaster Prevention in Civil Engineering, at Tongji, was founded in 2013 and is comprised of faculty from the University as well as from international scholars. The Center seeks to lay the foundation for the advancement of Civil Engineering in general and of Disaster Prevention in particular.

Professor Bobet will be working with faculty of the Institute of Underground Engineering and of the Innovation Center for Disaster Prevention to better understand the seismic response of underground structures and to develop novel methods for the design of buried structures to accommodate the deformations imposed by earthquakes.
