Prof. Shirley J. Dr. Santiago Pujol has accepted the appointment of Academic Director for Research Computing. Dr. Pujol will provide faculty perspective, vision and direction for Purdue’s activities around cyberinfrastructure for research especially the HUBzero platform and the community cluster program.

On June 25, President Daniels testified before the Senate Finance Committee. President Daniels’ opening remarks reference the Purdue Road School, an event co-sponsored by JTRP and LTAP. Pablo Zavattieri, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering, has been invited to participate in the fifth Indonesian-American Kavli Frontiers of Science symposium July 28-31, 2015 in Makassar, Indonesia. The symposium is sponsored by the Indonesian Academy of Sciences, the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Professor Chad Jafvert recently completed a $600,000 research project funded by the U.S. EPA on the environmental fate of carbon-based nanomaterials. This is one of the first studies to report on the environmental fate of this emerging nanomaterial.

Tariq U. Saeed has been elected as Civil Engineering Senator to the Purdue Graduate Student Senate (PGSS) for the academic year 2015-16. Tariq is a Fulbright Ph.D. scholar in the Lyles School of Civil Engineering, currently working in the area of Transportation Systems Engineering.
