Greg Sheppard, a sophomore Civil Engineering Student from Novi, Michigan juggles a complicated schedule to pursue his goal of becoming an environmental engineer while training to compete as a triathlete. Greg recently competed in the 2010 Carmel Sprint (400 m swim; 10 mile bike; 3 mile run) triathlon. With an impressive time of 52.07, Greg was second overall, ahead of over 900 other participants. Now Greg is already looking forward to his next race – the Memphis in May Olympic distance triathlon (1.5K swim, 40K bike and the 10K run). With roughly 1,700 competitors, the Memphis event is a qualifying race for Age-Group Nationals. Greg, who is also president of the Purdue Triathlon Club (http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~triclub/), is joined in his passion for triathlon by several other engineering students, including CE’s Alex Cosgrove.
