The Teaching Academy and Office of the Provost at Purdue are celebrating 241 individuals and teams of faculty, instructors, staff and graduate students who have been selected by their academic or administrative unit for the Award for Exceptional Teaching and Instructional Support during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Among those recognized are Inez Hua, Abhishek Goyal, Chad Jafvert, Garrett Jeong, Jinha Jung, Marika Santagata, & Mirian Velay-Lizancos.

Wejo, the leader in connected vehicle data, will host a panel discussion during National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) 2021 exploring how DOTs around the U.S. can tap into connected vehicle data to create safer work zones and save lives. The session, titled, "Connecting the DOTs: How Connected Vehicle Data Enables Work Zone Safety," will feature experts from Purdue University, Google, and the Indiana Department of Transportation (DOT), and will take place virtually on April 28, 2021 at 2pm ET.

A team of CE researchers led by Sogand Hasanzadeh is using virtual reality methods to explore the paradox of construction worker mentality that leads to risky decisions and results in injuries.

CE alumni William Bailey, Jr., Thomas Chance, Timothy Jacobs, Carrie Warner, and Timothy Wilschetz were celebrated as the 2021 Civil Engineering Alumni Achievement Award recipients at a virtual award ceremony on April 15th.
