Biography

Jiqin Ni (pronounced Jee-chin Nee) is Assistant Professor in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department at Purdue University. He received his Ph.D. at the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL), Belgium in 1998 and his M.S. degree at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL), Belgium in 1991. Before studying in Europe, he worked on research and extension on biogas and other renewable energy resources in China. He joined the department in 1997 and worked as Research Associate, Research Assistant Professor, and Research Associate Professor on agricultural air quality.

Dr. Ni’s research interest is in methodology and technology in air quality study, bioenergy from agricultural wastes, and air and water pollution abatement, such as measurement and control for research facilities, data acquisition and control software programming, sensor development, biogas technology, pollution assessment, and mathematical modeling. His extension is in livestock and rural waste systems engineering, including state-wide animal manure management, water and air quality protection, and on-farm biological waste treatment using technologies such as anaerobic digestion, bioreactors, and best management practices for reducing environmental impacts from animal agriculture.
