Matthew Miller began his career with PCL Construction as a Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) intern in 2006. He carried his internship experiences into a full-time role in the construction management field, spending seven years in various roles on projects in Florida, Georgia, and Texas before transitioning to the consulting industry in 2016.
Upon graduation in 2009, Matt moved to Tampa, Florida to work with Prince Contracting where he ran two highway projects as the lead engineer. In 2011, Prince opened a Dallas, Texas office and approached Matt to relocate and lead efforts to establish a Texas presence for the firm. Since 2011, Matt has called Texas home, working on various design-build programs as a construction project manager and consultant, including over $8.5B in projects across the state of Texas. In addition, Matt has become a leader in the field of construction consulting and design-build methods, gaining his Professional Engineer’s license in 2017 and becoming a Designated Design-Build Professional (DBIA) in 2019.
Outside of project work, Matt has excelled in operational leadership, building and training teams, including managing business lines and offices. As the first full-time construction team member on Grand Parkway H&I, Matt built a team of 30+ material testers and inspectors, most with little-to-no design&build experience, and successfully completed the $900M project with zero turnover. As a marketer, Matt led business development efforts for his firm’s Houston-area construction team, managing clients, developing relationships, and overseeing contract procurements. Currently, Matt is the Assistant Office Leader for JMT’s North Texas operations based out of McKinney, Texas. In this role, Matt assists with managing personnel, monitoring financials, and directing day-to-day operations of the office. He is also leading the relocation of the McKinney based office into a new, state-of-the-art, 8,000 SF space.
Matt was honored by Engineering News-Record to be named a Top Young Professional for 2023 in Texas and Louisiana. In addition to his professional works, Matt is an active member in his community, serving as a chairperson for his HOA committee, coaching his son’s Little League baseball team, and is currently an Executive Board Member for the Sci-Tech Discovery Center in Frisco where he has served as Secretary of the Board and President-Elect. Matt’s past organizations includes serving as a board member for the Future Leaders Council of the Associated General Contractors of America as well as the President and Vice President of the Dallas-Fort Worth Purdue Alumni Club.
