Why I chose Purdue Civil and Construction Engineering

I have had an interest in civil engineering for pretty much my whole life, so I knew I wanted to go to a university that had a strong program and had a strong community feel. The more I learned about Purdue, its civil engineering program, and campus life the more confident I became that this was the right school for me.

Emphasis area

My emphasis area is in transportation engineering. I knew right away I wanted to focus on transportation engineering when search for the right university. I am really interested in public transportation, especially our rail system. I use it a lot to visit family and I would love to one day help expand the railway system in the U.S.

Quentin said he chose Purdue Civil and Construction Engineering because of its strong program and welcoming campus community.

A love for travel

One of my biggest interests is traveling. I have a dream to visit every county in the U.S. Being a military kid, I traveled a lot and I guess that’s always stuck with me. I just find it really interesting to visit new places and communities where people have spent their whole lives there. Growing up, we moved around a lot, so I never had anything like that — and it’s why I really like Purdue; it feels like a community that I am part of.

After I graduate

After I earn my bachelor’s degree in December, I will be joining HNTB in Philadelphia. I’m really excited to begin my career and learn from industry veterans.
