Our Mission

The mission of TASI is to conduct world-class research in connected and autonomous vehicles and intelligent transportation systems through collaboration and partnership with academics, industry, government and other organizations.

Focused Research Areas

TASI faculty team has the expertise and technical skills to address critical research needs in connected, electrified, and automated mobility technology development and deployment by collaborating with its academic and industry partners. These areas include but are not limited to:

  • Pedestrian, cyclist, e-scooter rider, and other vulnerable road user (VRU) safety

  • Naturalistic driving and traffic data analytics

  • Human-centered AI in automated driving and ITS

History

Founded in 2006, TASI was established as a campus-wide, multi-disciplinary research center at Purdue University in Indianapolis. Since its inception, TASI’s research has been funded by its industry partners and state and federal agencies. More than 300 graduate and undergraduate students have participated in numerous projects under the supervision of TASI faculty members. Many alumni have been recruited by and working in several major automotive companies as technical leaders in their areas.
