Toyota Video: Meet Steve. The Dummy
This technology was developed through a partnership of Toyota’s Collaborative Safety Research Center, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) and Ohio State University. The study used data from volunteers of all shapes and sizes—including children— to develop a groundbreaking pedestrian mannequin – “Steve” – that is contributing unique technologies for future safety testing. Additionally, you can watch Steve in action on YouTube right here.
The Transportation and Autonomous Systems Institute, or TASI is a college-wide, multidisciplinary research center homed in the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University. TASI’s mission is to conduct world-class innovative research in connected, electrified and automated vehicles and intelligent transportation systems for sustainable, safe and enhanced mobility through collaboration and partnership with academia, industry, government, and communities in the U.S. and globally.
Societal Benefits
Transportation and road safety is a critical global issue. Societal costs of traffic accidents vehicle crashes are daunting and affect everyone.
