NE Senior Design team selected as ANS student design competition finalists

Purdue Nuclear Engineering's Senior Design team was selected as finalists for the 2016 American Nuclear Society (ANS) student design competition. Team members include Phillip Dressman, Abhijit Jassem, Trevor Kyle, Ryan Nicholson, Sara Sanders, and Dylan Toneff.

The ANS student design competition promotes excellence in the design aspect of nuclear engineering education in universities, and finalists are selected through a multi-step review and judging process.

The Senior Design team's research, Helium-3 Production Via Lithium Activation in an Accelerator-Driven Reactor, was conducted under the direction of advisor Dr. Chan Choi, Professor of Nuclear Engineering. Purdue's entry joins two others as finalists for presentations to the contest judges.

Team members presented their research as finalists in the undergraduate category at the 2016 ANS Winter Meeting and Nuclear Technology Expo, November 6-10 in Las Vegas, NV.
