Wachs serves as Chair of CVC Computer Vision Conference, delivers keynote

James H. and Barbara H. Greene Professor Juan Wachs recently served as General Chair of the 2026 Computer Vision Conference (CVC) in Amsterdam, where he also delivered a keynote presentation titled Bridging the Algorithm Abyss: Surgical Intelligence, Computer Vision & AI in Medicine.

In his keynote, Wachs explored how advances in computer vision and artificial intelligence are transforming surgical care, highlighting the growing role of intelligent systems in enhancing clinical decision-making, improving patient outcomes, and advancing the future of medicine. The presentation brought together perspectives from computer vision, robotics, and healthcare to examine how AI-driven technologies are helping bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world medical practice.

The keynote was recently published on YouTube by the Science and Information (SAI) Organization, making the presentation available to a global audience of researchers, clinicians, and technology professionals.
