INFORMS 2025: Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering Faculty and Students Showcase Excellence
The Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering was well represented at INFORMS 2025, held this year in Atlanta, where faculty and students earned recognition for their innovative research and teaching excellence.

Mario Ventresca received top honors as part of the winning team in the Minority Issues Forum Paper Competition. His co-authored paper with Abhishek Ray, Viplove Arora, and Kayse L. Maass "Optimal resource allocation to minimize errors when detecting human trafficking"earned the competition’s top award, highlighting impactful scholarship addressing issues of diversity and equity within operations research and analytics.

Ana Maria Estrada Gomez was recognized with two national teaching awards, earning 3rd place in the INFORMS Data Mining Society Teaching Award and 3rd place in the INFORMS JFIG Teaching Excellence Award. These accolades underscore her dedication to student learning and her leadership in advancing engineering education.
Purdue IE graduate students, like Emily Garcia, also presented their research throughout the conference, showcasing the school’s growing influence in cutting-edge industrial engineering scholarship.
