IE Welcomes New Faculty Members

The School of Industrial Engineering is proud to welcome outstanding new faculty members, Zaiwei Chen, Congfang Huang and April Savoy, who have joined us this fall, and Liwei Jiang and Miaolan Xie, who will join us in the fall of 2025.

Chen comes to the school after completing a postdoctoral fellowship in The Computing and Mathematical Sciences (CMS) Department of Caltech. Prior to this he earned a PhD in Machine Learning, an M.S. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Operations Research from Georgia Tech. 
 
Huang recently earned a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
 
Savoy is an alumna of the Purdue School of Industrial Engineering and previously served as an Assistant Professor at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) in the school of Engineering and Technolgoy. Savoy earned her PhD from the school of Industrial Engineering. 
 
Joining in the fall semester of 2025, Liwei Jiang will come to the school after working as a postdoctoral researcher at Georgia Tech. Jiang earned his PhD from the School of Operations Research and Information Engineering (ORIE) at Cornell University. 
 
Also joining in the fall of 2025 is Miaolan Xie, who earned her PhD in Operations Research and Information Engineering from Cornell University.  Xie also brings industry experience working as a Senior Algorithm Engineer for a major internet retailer.
