A 2019 College of Engineering Gilbreth Postdoctoral Fellow will work with Dr. Gesualdo Scutari, the Thomas and Jane Schmidt Rising Star Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering

Marie Maros will work with Dr. Scutari and Dr. Guang Cheng, Professor of Statistics, to develop a theory of the fundamental tradeoffs that govern statistical learning in a large-scale nonconvex networked setting. Her research interests include distributed optimization methods in time varying environments.

Maros is currently a PhD candidate at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, graduating August 2019. She received her MS degree in Electrical Engineering from the Institute, and also holds BS and MS degrees in Telecommunications Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) in Catalonia, Spain.

Beginning in 2018, Purdue Engineering annually awards Gilbreth Postdoctoral Fellowships in memory of Dr. Lillian Moller Gilbreth, Professor at Purdue from 1935-1948. A world-renowned pioneer in the application of psychology to industrial engineering, Dr. Gilbreth's work epitomized interdisciplinary research and broader impact on industry and society. The College's 2019 Gilbreth Fellows were selected through a rigorous review process conducted by a panel of named and distinguished faculty. By undertaking interdisciplinary research and participating in professional development activities, these outstanding individuals are poised to make a broad impact on industry and society.
