Chandrasekar receives ASME award

Srinivasan Chandrasekar, professor of industrial engineering, received the 2019 Milton C. Shaw Manufacturing Research Medal at the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Annual Manufacturing Science & Engineering Conference. The meeting took place at Penn State Behrend, Erie, PA, on June 13, 2019.

The award citation reads: "For contributions to mechanics and microstructure aspects of material removal and deformation processes, and pioneering applications of machining-based processes for materials manufacturing."

The Milton C. Shaw Manufacturing Research Medal, established in 2009, is an ASME Society-Level award that recognizes significant fundamental contributions to the science and technology of manufacturing processes. It consists of a bronze medal, certificate and cash award.
