IE senior Giovanni Malloy recently received two IE scholarships and Honors College recognition for his campus leadership.

Malloy has received numerous awards and scholarships and has served in various leadership roles during his time at Purdue. In November he was honored by the School of Industrial Engineering for receiving the Robert E. Savage Scholarship and the Dr. James Barany Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Engineering. He is also featured on the Purdue Honors College website in an Oct. 28 article, “Purdue student forging change with determined leadership“.

Malloy is doing undergraduate research with Assistant Professor Mario Ventresca on analyzing and modeling Ebola spread in West Africa. In the future, he wants to use the study of computational methods to approach health policy.

“I think it’s a responsibility of our country to be a global partner for developing nations because it (pandemic disease) is a big economic setback,” Malloy said. “The next step is how do you bring these countries back to economic and political stability?”
