Major General Shadley served as Vice President of Logistics and Army Operations, as Group Vice President of Defense, and as Senior Vice President of Force Protection, Advanced Weapons Division of Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK). He joined ATK following a distinguished 33-year career in the U.S. Army in the field of logistics. He culminated his Army career as Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, U.S. Army Forces Command.
Major General Shadley was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Alabama Distinguished Service Medal. He graduated from Purdue University with a BSIE (1965) and an MSIE (1966).
