New Graduate Student Spotlight: Fadhla Binti Junus
As a practitioner, Fadhla worked as an Assistant Manager for the Bank of Aceh and then served as an Expert Assistant for the Bureau of Economy for her hometown government. Her primary tasks included researching (analyzing, coding, developing), and maintaining information, communication, and technology (ICT) system requirements. Those responsibilities led her to continue her academic career in 2014 after being appointed as a Civil Service Employee in Central Government to occupy an ICT lecturer position at the State Islamic University (UIN) Ar-Raniry in her home city.
To earn her PhD engineering education could be a valuable addition to her institution. She would be the first, as there are no other PhD graduates with engineering education experience in that sector of her home institution (yet!).
We asked, “Why Purdue?”
The program offers a wide range of research collaboration opportunities across campus and worldwide, which would enhance my research expertise. I chose Purdue because it is the first university that founded Engineering Education studies. It means I can learn the knowledge principle in the field directly from the pioneer. In addition, as a Big Ten school, Purdue provides world-class university facilities, which I believe will provide better supports and services for diverse international students to elevate their knowledge.
