When asked who inspires her as we reflect on Women's History Month, Allison replied, "I would have to say my mom."

Allison Godwin and her mother Karen Foreman posed together for Allison's commencement at Clemson.

Meet Karen Foreman through the eyes of her daughter, Dr. Allison Godwin.

"She is an incredible and giving person that always empowered me to pursue my dreams. My mom set an amazing example for me in working part time while also being an involved mom of four children. She conveyed her passion for science by making little experiences learning opportunities. One of my favorite stories to tell about my mom happened when I was about 5 years old. At the time, I loved picking up slimy crawling things in our backyard. That afternoon, I had captured a toad and was very excited. However, I accidentally dropped the toad on our concrete patio and it wasn’t moving. I was devastated. My mom picked up the toad and began little tiny compressions to 'save' the toad. To our surprise, she was able to revive the toad and release him back into our yard. It probably died later on, but that experience made me believe that my mom could do anything."
