The INSPIRE Research Institute for Pre-College Engineering

INSPIRE is a research institute in the School of Engineering Education at Purdue University that studies engineering thinking and learning to engage all pre-college learners and impact educational systems. INSPIRE is made up of thirteen dedicated faculty and staff members and 40+ graduate and undergraduate research assistants.

INSPIRE has three strategic focus areas:

  • Integrating engineering with science, technology, mathematics and language arts
  • Characterizing engineering thinking for pre-college settings
  • Promoting the participation of underrepresented populations in engineering
