6.   In the Construction Engineering area,  at the masters level, the successful completion of a technical research report followed by a formal presentation of the findings of the research problem, is required as a prerequisite for their degrees. Each report follows a satisfactory completion of a three or four credit Independent Research Project (IRS) performed by the student under the supervision of a research advisor. The report is generally similar in scope to a formal masters thesis prepared and presented by other engineering graduate students at Purdue University.
