Project Manager & Vice President
Carollo Engineers

"Approach work and life with humility and a sense of humor, and don't take yourself too seriously. Be curious and tenacious, and when you decide to do something, do it with intention. Above all, have fun, take some risks, and find time to enjoy your family, friends, and the stuff you do."

Paul Amico grew up outside of Indianapolis and he attended Purdue University from 1991 to 1996. He’s the son of Susie and Tony who have been married for over 50 years, and he has an older brother named Marc. Paul decided to become a civil engineer in eighth grade and he never really considered any other career once deciding on civil engineering.

After arriving at Purdue, Paul learned about the Cooperative Engineering Education Program and there was no doubt in his mind that he would join it to get real-world experience while obtaining his degree. He began working in January of 1993 for Havens and Emerson in their startup office in Louisville, Kentucky, and he worked in Des Moines, Iowa and Walnut Creek, California after Havens and Emerson was acquired by Montgomery Watson.

Paul graduated in 1996 with a BSCE and joined PDR Engineers in Louisville where his first manager from Havens and Emerson had moved. Starting in 1999, he worked for several different consulting firms in Kentucky, Indiana and California before joining CH2M HILL (now Jacobs) in 2009 to start and lead their Indianapolis office.

In 2013, Paul moved to Fresno, California with CH2M HILL to manage projects for Fresno’s largest-ever capital investment in drinking water, and he continues to live there today. He is now a Vice President with Carollo Engineers, and he was tapped in 2021 to manage Carollo’s Fresno office. Paul has spent his career entirely dedicated to municipal clients, and he has worked on a wide variety of water and wastewater projects and programs in the Midwest and California. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in California, and he  currently focuses on two cutting-edge water reuse programs and on delivering water and wastewater projects for clients throughout Central California.

Paul has an 18-year-old who is planning on attending college to major in physics and art, and he has a 16-year old who is highly enthusiastic about video games. In his spare time, he hikes and rock climbs, brews beer in his garage, and occasionally rides the 1996 Ducati motorcycle his friend made him buy.
