CE graduate student Siddharth Saksena has been selected as the 1st place winner of the Graduate Division of the ASCE Environmental Water Resource Institute's 2015 Student Technical Paper Contest. The paper, titled "Investigating the Role of DEM Resolution and Accuracy on Flood Inundation Mapping," is based on Siddharth's MS thesis that addresses a very practical issue of data accuracy, and proposes an approach to get better flood inundation maps from coarser and less accurate topographic datasets. Siddharth Saksena is advised by Dr. Venkatesh Merwade in the Hydraulics and Hydrology group.
Siddharth is continuing at Purdue as a PhD student with Dr. Merwade and hopes to keep working and contributing to the field of flood modeling.
