Ethan Edwards, Amanda Lefebvre & Jenna Palka named CE Outstanding Seniors for class of 2021
Congratulations to Ethan Edwards, Amanda Lefebvre & Jenna Palka on being named the CE Outstanding Seniors for 2020-2021!
Ethan Edwards, of Blacksburg, Virginia, chose to study civil engineering because of his interest in water quality. He wants to ensure everyone has access to safe and clean drinking water and has already been involved in multiple water quality studies — including the Flint, Michigan, water crisis. He is also actively involved with the Purdue Running Club.
Amanda Lefebvre, of Plainfield, Illinois, has been a part of Engineers Without Borders, Chi Epsilon, Chi Omega, the Purdue Center for Career Opportunities, served as an undergraduate researcher, and has taken three internships during her four years at Purdue. She will pursue a Master's degree in civil engineering here at Purdue in the fall.
Jenna Palka, of Winfield, Illinois, chose Civil Engineering because she wanted to make a lasting impact on the world. Jenna has been involved in several student groups and has studied abroad in Colombia, participated in research, as well as performed in several ensembles at Purdue including the “All-American” Marching Band. After graduation, she will take a position with Emerson Electric in their Engineers in Leadership program.
The CE Outstanding Undergraduate Seniors are selected according to the following criteria:
- Service to Purdue (to the College of Engineering or the university as a whole)
- Service to Community (volunteer work, community projects, etc.)
- Service Character (willingness to serve, positive attitude, helpful and enjoyable)
- Organizational Involvement (student organizations and clubs, honor societies and organizations, departmental organizations, etc.)
- Technical Achievements (patents, publications, research work, technical awards, coops/ internships, etc.)
- Academic Achievements (honors, awards, teaching assistant, etc.)
