Why I chose Purdue Civil Engineering
I’ve always loved math and science and I knew I wanted to pursue a degree that fed into those interests. I received an academic scholarship to attend Purdue University and I fairly certain I wanted to do something engineering-related. During the First-Year Engineering program, I was exposed to civil engineering and all the different careers and the wide impact it had. From there, I felt pretty confident this was the school for me.
Emphasis area
My emphasis area is in Hydraulics. It just stood out to me when I entered the school. When I looked through the course catalog of what you would learn, it just really appealed to me. I’ve always loved the coast and being around the water and I couldn’t be happier with my choice.

Purdue Women's Soccer Team
For four years, I was on the Purdue Women’s Soccer Team. I played center and outside back. It was an incredible experience for me and it’s where I made some of my best friends. The facilities I got to play and practice at and the comradery we had had when we were conditioning are some of my fondest memories about my time here at Purdue.
After I graduate
After I graduate, I will join with Phoenix Contact, a manufacturing company, in their Pennsylvania office. I will be working through their technical sales department. Later down the line, I’d like to pursue a Master’s degree as well. And even further down the line, I’d like to one day retire as a Mathematics teacher.
In addition to her studies and athletic efforts, Alexis was also actively involved in community service and student groups.
