"1) Plan your work and work your plan. 2) A bad decision is better than indecision. 3) You are only as successful as the people you are leading."
Daniel was raised in Carmel, IN. He attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel grade school and Carmel High School. At Carmel High School, he was class president and student body president. He grew up in the underground boring and tunneling business, working summers and school breaks with the same company as his father, Len Liotti. Daniel followed his father’s footsteps by attending Purdue University, where his father also graduated with a civil engineering degree in 1957. His sisters, Jennifer and Diane, also attended Purdue.
While at Purdue, Daniel was a member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity, Purdue Student Board, race chairman for the Bud Light Ironman Qualifier Triathlon. He also drove in the Purdue Grand Prix.
After graduating from Purdue in 1985, Daniel joined his father’s company, Midwest Mole, Inc. which was started by his father and mother, Jane Liotti, in 1982. His mother passed away from cancer at an early age in 1987. Shortly after graduating from college, he met his better half, Laura Dudley, from Columbus, IN, and they have been married now for 30 years. They have two sons, Brian and Mike, whom also graduated from Purdue and have three grandchildren.
Daniel has been with Midwest Mole for nearly 33 years. Midwest Mole works throughout the Midwest and some out east specializing in boring, tunneling, and rehabilitation for many types of utility installations. One of the premier projects Midwest Mole has performed was the installation of an 8-foot diameter tunnel, 2,000-feet-long under the active runway at the Indianapolis Airport for utilities to the new Midfield Terminal. For this project, Midwest Mole won the prestigious award given by the Trenchless Technology Magazine for New Installations.
Daniel purchased the company from his father in 2004 and is now CEO. His father passed away in 2010. Liotti has been honored with receiving his industry award – Trenchless Technology Person of the Year in 2015.
