Kevin J. Fitzpatrick
BSCE 1985
Executive Vice President
Alfred Benesch & Co.
Before coming to Purdue, Kevin was born and raised in Griffith, Indiana, and attended Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond. Having an older sister and brother that attended Purdue meant Kevin came to football and basketball games since he was 8 years old, getting the Black and Gold in his veins at an early age. His wife Kate is also a Purdue graduate, along with her four siblings. They have been married for 26 years, with three children, the oldest of whom will graduate from Purdue next month.
Kevin found a life-long career at Alfred Benesch & Company, without even realizing it at first. He interned for Benesch the summer after graduating high school, as a member of the survey crew, and then continued to intern with the construction management group throughout the rest of his college years. Upon graduation in 1985, he accepted a full-time position with the company, working on both structural design and construction engineering projects for several years, ultimately being drawn to the fast-paced and intense nature of construction management. Being on the actual construction sites, applying his design knowledge to solve constructability and staging issues on complex transportation projects became his strong suit. A career highlight was managing the $250 million Wacker Drive Viaduct Reconstruction in the heart of downtown Chicago. His work received local, state and national recognition.
Kevin now spends his time managing the Great Lakes Region of Benesch, including the highly recognized Chicago office. Kevin's Chicago team is producing high-profile work such as the design of a new $1 billion Mississippi River Bridge in the Quad Cities; construction management of a $100 million complex flyover railroad bridge on Chicago's south side and the design and construction of the highly anticipated Riverwalk along the Chicago River.
In addition to all of this, Kevin is also an Executive Vice President of Benesch and serves on its Board of Directors. Further, he is an active member of several industry organizations, and he also lends his time and leadership to the Purdue Civil Engineering Advisory Council.
Kevin, Kate and their three children live in Naperville, Illinois, where you will catch them on the golf course in their spare time.
