Glen T. Daigger

Born in Lafayette, Indiana, and raised on a farm just outside Battle Ground, Indiana, Glen T. Daigger grew up with Purdue as his hometown university. After spending 10 years there earning a BSCE, MSCE, and PhD in environmental engineering - and having married his wife, Patty, midway through this period - he joined the international consulting engineering firm CH2M HILL in 1979. Daigger has remained with the firm since then, except for two years in the mid-1990s when he was professor and chair of Environmental Systems Engineering at Clemson University.

Over the last three decades, Daigger has become an internationally recognized expert in wastewater treatment and water quality management for municipal and industrial systems, with particular expertise in biological processes. His nine patents for wastewater treatment have helped establish the nation's wastewater treatment standards. He is widely published and is author or co-author of more than 200 technical papers, several technical manuals, and four books. His texts Biological Wastewater Treatment, Upgrading Wastewater Treatment Plants, and Principles and Practice of Phosphorus and Nitrogen Removal from Municipal Wastewater are used in engineering classrooms across the country.

Also deeply engaged in professional activities, Daigger has served in senior roles for the Water Environment Federation, the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, and the Water Environment Research Foundation. He is currently president-elect of the International Water Association, a global network of water professionals that promotes effective and sustainable approaches to water resources management, drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater management throughout the world. Daigger also is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and has twice received the Harrison Prescott Eddy Award from the Water Environment Federation.

Daigger currently serves as senior vice president and chief technology officer of the facilities and infrastructure division with CH2M HILL, a global leader in engineering, construction, and operations for public and private clients. As the company's first technical fellow, he is helping to advance the development and implementation of new wastewater treatment technologies.

Daigger is especially proud of the projects he has undertaken around the world to advance water reuse and recycling while protecting and enhancing the environment. From small communities to large cities, he has contributed to sustainability efforts in New York; Washington, DC; Indianapolis; Milwaukee; Atlanta; Denver; Dallas; Los Angeles; Portland; Seattle; Anchorage; Auckland; Sydney; Melbourne; Singapore; Abu Dhabi; Bangkok; and Beijing.
