Drnevich receives engineering leadership award

The Indiana Society of Professional Engineers presented the first Thomas A. Morris Engineering Leadership Award to Vincent P. Drnevich, P.E., Ph.D., in recognition of his outstanding engineering leadership and ability to exhibit the highest level of integrity and ethics in all conduct, and his continuous demonstration of breadth and depth of engineering knowledge.

The Indiana Society of Professional Engineers presented the first Thomas A. Morris Engineering Leadership Award to Vincent P. Drnevich, P.E., Ph.D., in recognition of his outstanding engineering leadership and ability to exhibit the highest level of integrity and ethics in all conduct, and his continuous demonstration of breadth and depth of engineering knowledge.

The Award was named after Thomas Armstrong Morris, a 19th century engineer who had a profound impact on Indiana.  Among his accomplishments were: 

  • Design and construction of roadways, railways, canals in the State
  • President of the Bee Line and then the Indianapolis and Cincinnati Railroad
  • Resident Engineer for the State of Indiana
  • Commissioned and oversaw the construction of the Indiana State House
  • Oversaw construction of the Union Railway and Union Depot in Indianapolis
  • President of the Indianapolis Water Company

Michael Fink, P.E., F.NSPE presented the Award to Vince on behalf of the Indiana Society at the awards program of its 2013 Conference.  At this conference, Vince presented a short course on Indiana Statutes and Rules for Engineering Licensure, hosted, along with two students from the Purdue Society of Professional Engineers, the Order of the Engineer ceremony, and presented, as Chairman of the State Board of Registration, Professional Engineering Certificates to newly licensed engineers in Indiana.
