Victor M. Nakano, Ph.D. student in Civil Engineering, was selected as the poster winner in the multidisciplinary category for his work on "Multizone Modeling to Predict Contaminant Dispersion within a Healthcare Facility" at the 2006 St. Vincent Hospitals and Health Services Research Symposium, held on June 7, 2006. His research is focused on developing a cost-effective, quantitative methodology to assess complex critical infrastructure designs to maximize protection against internal chemical and biological threats. Over 60 abstracts were submitted to the symposium. This project is sponsored by the Uniformed Army Scientist and Engineer Program and is a collaborative effort between Purdue University, the U.S. Army Engineer Research Development Center (ERDC) Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL), and St. Vincent Hospital.
