Danielle Wagner receives 2019 ASHRAE graduate award
Civil Engineering Ph.D. student Danielle Wagner has received a 2019-2020 ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Grant-in-Aid Award. Recipients are chosen on the basis of the scope of their research, as well as involvement in local ASHRAE chapters and related activities.
Danielle’s research project entitled "Multi-point sampling of indoor air concentrations in a well-defined HVAC system for a graduate student office environment” uses real-time measurements of fine and ultrafine particle number concentrations at different locations in one of the Herrick living lab offices and the associated air handling unit to determine spatiotemporal aerosol patterns within the system. There are currently no exposure standards for indoor ultrafine particle number concentrations; thus this study will aid in characterizing a clean indoor environment. This work is part of a larger study led by Assistant Professor Brandon E. Boor investigating indoor air pollutant dynamics in an office environment at the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories.
