Nicholas Ulliman (BSCNE 2010), Project Executive at Ulliman Schutte Construction, has received the 2025 Construction Engineering Emerging Leader Alumni Award.

Nicholas “Nick” Ulliman was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, graduating from Archbishop Alter High School in 2006. Inspired by his father’s passion for civil engineering and construction, Nick enrolled at Purdue University in 2006 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering in 2010, as well as a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Dayton in 2020. He is a certified Design Build Professional and received his Professional Engineer certification in 2018 and is currently licensed in Ohio and Kentucky.

Since his graduation from the CEM program in 2010, Nick has built a career as a construction professional in the water infrastructure industry. Nick joined Ulliman Schutte Construction (US) full-time in 2010 and has continued to work with US since. Over the course of his career, Nick has managed hard-bid and collaborative delivery projects in Washington, D.C.; Keyser, West Virginia; Louisville, Kentucky; and the Ohio region, facilitating a collaborative environment to implement creative solutions throughout design and construction. Nick currently serves as a Project Executive overseeing projects in Kentucky and Ohio.

A highlight of Nick’s career is his leadership of a design-build project in Louisville — the Southwestern Parkway CSO Storage Basin Project for Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District — which earned the 2019 Design-Build Institute of America’s Design- Build National Award of Excellence in Water/Wastewater and was named as a Game Changer Project by ASCE. Four years later, Nick received DBIA’s Distinguished Leadership Award in the category of Young Professional. Nick is currently managing two collaborative delivery projects: A 1,900 MGD flood pump station replacement project in Louisville, KY and a comprehensive wastewater treatment plant upgrade project in Dayton, OH. Nick and his wife, Emeline, have been married for nine years and have three children, Lily, age 4; Charlie, age 2; and Violette who they welcomed to the family in early September.
