Logan Cook receives 2024 Construction Engineering Emerging Leader Alumni Award
Logan Cook (BSCNE 2010 MSCE 2011), Associate Principal and Unit Manager at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE), has received the 2024 Construction Engineering Emerging Leader Alumni Award.
Logan attended Purdue University 2006-2011, graduating with a Bachelor's in Construction Engineering and Management and a Master's in Civil Engineering. During his internships, he gained experience in engineering contracting and commercial real estate development. After graduating in December 2011, he began working for Wiss Janney, Elster Associates, Inc. in Chicago, Illinois. During his early first two years at WJE, he contributed to several notable national projects including investigation and design services on 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, the Oklahoma State Capitol in Oklahoma City, The Tribune Tower in Chicago, and Chicago Hall, to name a few.
Logan was born and raised in Indianapolis. After working for WJE for two years, due to family circumstances, he and his family were pulled back to Indianapolis. Logan pitched the idea and a plan for expanding WJE’s architectural and engineering practice into Indianapolis. To his surprise, he was given the green light to start an office for WJE in April 2014. Since then, WJE’s Indianapolis office has grown to 12 professional staff and has been involved in notable projects including Purdue’s Mackey Arena and Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, and Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Victory Field, and the Indiana World War Memorial in Indianapolis. Additionally, the WJE office in Indianapolis has performed building assessments in the wake of the 2020 tornadoes and Christmas Day bombing in Nashville.
Logan is a licensed Professional Engineer and trained as a Rope Access Technician (SPRAT), which he uses to investigate building façades. He has worked on hundreds of assignments related to the investigation, repair and restoration of new and existing arenas, stadiums, museums, parking garages, and bridges. His experience includes evaluating challenges and developing solutions related to facades, roofing, waterproofing, masonry, concrete, steel and various types of structural systems. In addition to his experience at WJE, he also serves as a Structures Specialist on FEMA’s Indiana Task One Urban Search and Rescue team, is a member of the Indiana Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission. He is also involved in several professional organizations.
