Integrated Photonics and Applications (formerly QUIP)
Advisors:
Description:
QUIP will engage a team of undergraduate students in a multi- year research project with the overarching goal of developing a quantum frequency processor in silicon photonics. Initial work will focus on developing instrumentation, like a FPGA-based time interval analyzer, for benchtop quantum optics experiments. Further into the project, the team will progress to designing on-chip photonic elements and subsystems for fabrication at a commercial foundry. Fabricated devices will be characterized by the team with the results feeding into future design iterations or guiding deployment in quantum networking experiments. The project will culminate with the demonstration of a chip-scale network node that can entangle photonics from two independent sources.
