Title:  Some factors that don't seem to affect vestibular testing as much as we thought they would (and why that might matter).

Abstract: In this talk I will present a brief summary of some results from four Au.D. students' recent research projects (Olivia Anderson, Alaina Flemming, Deidra Roth, Natalie Seidl). I will argue that, taken together, these findings suggest that vestibular testing, particularly sinusoidal harmonic acceleration (SHA) testing with a rotary chair, is relatively insensitive to sub-clinical differences across participants and testing conditions. This, in turn, has potentially important implications for developing future research and clinical assessments to investigate vestibular function, balance, and fall risk.
